San Diego, CA (January 10-13, 2018) The New Year gave way to Lyryx exhibiting and presenting at the Joint Mathematics Meetings – the largest mathematics meeting in the world!
Amidst more than 6,000 mathematicians, Lyryx spread the word about open educational resources (OER), namely open texts in Calculus, Linear Algebra and Introductory Statistics. Attendees were excited to hear that Lyryx is providing adaptable and accessible open texts and instructor supplements, but also a uniquely affordable online homework system to aid in student learning.
President and Founder, Claude Laflamme, was also on site to present “A Sustainable Model for OER” in the MAA Session on the Advancement of Open Educational Resources. This is part of efforts at Lyryx to promote OER in a sustainable and affordable manner, taking into account not only the costs and benefits to students, but also those of instructors and institutions interested in supporting OER. There was plenty of interest from participants, in particular on how Lyryx continues to develop OER while producing accessible, affordable and pedagogically sound online homework.
Lyryx looks forward to attending JMM 2019, but for now, everyone is busy following up with all the mathematics instructors interested in exploring Lyryx with Open Texts.
