Lyryx reports substantial savings for post-secondary students enrolled in courses using open educational resources (OER).<\/i><\/p>\n
Calgary, AB (September 12, 2017)<\/b> Lyryx Learning\u2019s FREE LAB Initiative recently reported $350,000 in savings for students since the Fall of 2014! This unique initiative, pioneered by Lyryx, is available to university and college courses using open texts and Lyryx online assessment. FREE LAB offers students zero-cost access to their homework (online assessment) when accessed via their school\u2019s computer labs.<\/p>\n
Claude Laflamme, Founder and CEO of Lyryx Learning, says, \u201cFREE LAB is more than just straightforward savings for students; it permits the combination of open educational resources (OER) with high-quality, rigorously maintained online assessment at truly no cost to students.\u201d<\/p>\n
The OER movement continues to gain momentum within the post-secondary education community and is an important part of Students\u2019 Union (SU) initiatives across Canada. Many SUs are actively working to increase awareness and adoption of OER at their institutions to make these substantial cost savings a reality for students.<\/p>\n
The Students\u2019 Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) commented, \u201cThe steady rise of textbook costs in the past decade has reduced accessibility to post-secondary education significantly. The SAMU is a proponent of OERs and recognizes their role in reducing costs and increasing access for students.\u201d<\/p>\n
