For more than a decade, Lyryx developed online assessments for qualitative courses in higher education. This experience provided the insight and skill set for transitioning to the role of a full-service publisher of open educational resources and educational software. It also dictated the subjects for which we would elect to develop products under the Lyryx with Open Texts brand.
Going back to our early mathematics roots, our inaugural Lyryx with Open Texts products were Linear Algebra and Calculus. We edited/ updated existing open licensed textbooks in these areas that would pair with our high-quality online homework/ exam platform.
We quickly moved on to another specialty: business. For our economics texts, the authors were able to regain the copyright to their Microeconomics/ Macroeconomics textbooks and then release them with Creative Commons licenses. For our first accounting product, “Introduction to Financial Accounting,” we collaborated with Athabasca University to edit/ adapt the open text, originally authored by Henry Dauderis and David Annand. We then went on to work with Athabasca University again to publish “Intermediate Financial Accounting” volumes I and II with authors, Glenn Arnold and Suzanne Kyle.
