1. What was the core problem you were seeking to solve with Lyryx?

With accounting, the delay time from when a student answers a question to when you can give them feedback/corrections was an issue when it was done on paper.  If a student was making a mistake, it often would be repeated a number of times in their work before it was handed in, and they may not find out they are completing the problems wrong until the assignment was handed back.  The trouble was that the “error” may have been learned by that time, and was twice as difficult to correct. In addition, the number of practice questions was limited with standard paper accounting methods.  True mastery was not possible with the limited number of problems.

2. What are the top three benefits of Lyryx?

Speed of feedback, unlimited customized and individualized opportunities to practice concepts, and instructor ability to focus on student support, instruction, and facilitation of learning rather than marking and record keeping.

3. What, if any, was your experience with products similar to Lyryx?

The static nature of most online accounting products (e.g. McGrawHill Connect).  Lack of personalized/customized interaction with the exercises and problems.

4. Would you recommend Lyryx to a colleague? If so, why?

I would highly recommend Lyryx for any educator who wants to use a mastery type learning approach for accounting, who has diverse student learning needs, and/or who had limited instructional time in the classroom.  It allows a standardization of delivery and practice for all students across multiple classroom formats in many different geographic locations while allowing for individual learning needs and instructor ability to customized the course to be exactly what the learning outcomes need it to be.

5. Is there anything you’d like to add?

Staff at Lyryx have been so accommodating in helping us customize our course to the specific learning outcomes, from adding in modules on payroll to allowing a customized text to be used for our students.  Thanks you so much.
